(Harrisburg) -- A Lancaster County hunter has seen a record kill turn into a poaching charge. Thirty-three year old hunter Scott M. Garner of Bainbridge took a 14-point buck during rifle deer season this month. State Game Commission spokesman Jerry Feaser says it would have placed in the top 25 in the record book in the Commonwealth. But, he says the hunter had already taken a five-point buck during archery deer season. "This is one of those things that falls into the category of poaching. When a hunter has already filled their buck tag, that is it. They are no longer allowed to take another antlered deer for that license year," Feaser says. He adds Garner tried to fool the commission by attaching his alread-used buck tag to the record kill. He says the hunter could face up to 90 days in jail, a fine of $6,500, and lose his hunting license for up to three years.
