Outlet malls hiring seasonal employees to manage holiday crowds

Written by  Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer

(Lancaster) -- Job-seekers looking to make some extra money this holiday season may be able to find work at some of the region's major outlet malls. Both Tanger and Rockvale Outlet centers in Lancaster are hiring part-time, seasonal employees to work the last few weeks of the year. Danielle Eisen, manager of Famous Footwear at the Rockvale Outlets, says the store will take on four or five seasonal employees this year. "That doesn't mean they'll be done. If they show exceptional performance, we tend to offer them a position with our company," she says. "We have stores all over, and we're always looking to hire good talent." The general manager of the Tanger Outlets says two-thirds of its stores are looking for both seasonal and full-time employees. 18-year-old Tyler Albinus of Lancaster says he's been job hunting for about a month now. "It's definitely not easy because there are a lot of people looking for employment," he says. "I've applied at a lot of places that were advertising hiring, and I think they're just picking up older and more experienced people." witf's Scott Detrow will have more on the seasonal jobs outlook tomorrow morning on Weekend Edition Saturday, which starts at eight.
