Demonstrations insipred by the Occupy Wall Street movement are making their voices heard across the midstate as they protest what they see as greed and the influence of money on government. A handful of members of Occupy Harrisburg were carrying signs and standing on the steps of the state capitol this morning, down from the hundreds who came out for the beginning of the protest on Saturday. A woman from Dillsburg, York County, who wanted to be identified only as "Mary" says their numbers may have dwindled, but the group has been getting support in other ways to continue the so-called "occupation." "We have some food and some pizza boxes. Believe it or not, people have been bringing us pizzas since we got here. They've been making sure we're being fed. There are probably 20 cases of water. Everything's donated, which is nice," Mary says. She adds many people left the demonstration to return to work or to take care of other obligations. "Occupy" movements have turned up in places like Lancaster, York, and Lewisburg, Union County. The demonstrators in Harrisburg say they will remain in front of the capitol for the time being, without giving an end date to their protest.

I also opine that redistribution of wealth which economically empowers the lower economic strata, would grow the economy more effectively than anything else. Ie, trickle up is more powerful than trickle down.
