(York) -- Government numbers show consumer spending dropped this summer. While this trend might not be good for the economy at large, cutting your personal spending can help make ends meet in tough times. Sarah Mock is a York County mom and an expert penny pincher -- and she writes the blog How I Pinch a Penny. As part of WITF's MoneyWorks series, she talked with WITF's Craig Layne about little changes in everyday life that can help save money.

I find that you have to be careful with coupons even if they seem to save money. It's often cheaper to buy the store brand. Coupons often ask that you buy more of a product than you normally would or buy with other products you don't really want.
