Minor flooding affects creeks, streams across midstate

Written by  Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer

(Harrisburg) -- The saturated ground from Tropical Storm Lee has led to more flooding across the midstate, near the stem of the Susquehanna River. Minor flooding has occurred in creeks and streams in Marietta, Lancaster County and Danville, Montour County. Susan Obleski, spokeswoman for the Susquehanna River Basin Commission, says the rain is supposed to let up today, but it's been a wet season over the past couple of months. "August through October, normally, streams are at their lowest, so they were still higher because of Lee and continued periodic rainfall, and with any new amount of rain, the streams and rivers are reacting very quickly," she says. Obleski says extra sediment from the rainwater will continue to make its way through the Susquehanna River to the Chesapeake Bay. She adds no major flooding is expected to affect the midstate.
