Midstate professor says Gadhafi's death could lead to lower oil prices

Written by  Craig Layne, Morning Edition Host/Reporter

(Harrisburg) -- A midstate professor says the death of former Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi could ease oil prices and eventually lead to a more free society in North Africa. Mehdi Noorbaksh is an associate professor of international affairs at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. He says removing the uncertainty about Gadhafi helps the international oil market and allows Libyans to put their nation back together.  "They can concentrate now on reconstructing political institutions and the economy of the country. As you know, Libya was a very impoverished country. They have a chance now," Noorbaksh says. He says Gadhafi's death should quiet his supporters and allow the National Transitional Council to continue to build a government in Tripoli. Gadhafi ruled Libya for nearly 42 years.
