Local United Way announces flood recovery fund

Written by  witf.org

In response to the devastating effects of Tropical Storm Lee, United Way of the Capital Region (UWCR) has announced the creation of the Capital Region Flood Recovery Fund to help local agencies support central Pennsylvania residents who have been impacted by the storm.

To help jumpstart the fund, UWCR will make a contribution of $25,000 from the organization’s reserves. Over the next few weeks, individuals, companies and foundations can make contributions, which will help non-profit organizations who need it most. No administrative fees will be charged, so 100 percent of all contributions will go directly to programs and services.

A panel of United Way volunteers will award grants to worthy programs and services providing flood recovery support.

To contribute to the fund, send a check made payable to "Capital Region Flood Recovery Fund" to United Way of the Capital Region, 2235 Millennium Way, Enola, PA 17025. To make a donation online, visit uwcr.org.
