***This press conference has been cancelled, so we will no longer be streaming audio from the conference.***
Just 40 minutes before the conference was set to start, Penn State issued the following statement:
"Due to the on-going legal circumstances surrounding the recent allegations and charges, we have determined that today's press conference cannot be held and will not be rescheduled."
Prior to the cancellation, Penn State had made it clear to the media that the primary focus of the conference would be to answer questions related to Penn State’s Senior Day game with Nebraska this Saturday. He would not be addressing questions about the the ongoing Jerry Sandusky sex crimes case. Despite that fact, it was assumed that the media would at least attempt to ask Paterno questions about the Sanduski case during the press conference.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly has said that Paterno is not regarded as a target in the ongoing probe at this time. "He's been cooperative with the investigators in this case," she said.
