Lebanon to boost image with new logo and tagline

Written by  Craig Layne, Morning Edition Host/Reporter

(Lebanon) -- One midstate city is trying to boost its profile with a new logo and catchphrase. Lebanon is set to release the so-called "tagline" next Wednesday. Mayor Sherry Capello says it's aimed at countering negative perceptions of the city. "Our tagline logo fits us. It's not something glamorous like Las Vegas' 'What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.' But it fits us, and it's going to work for us," Capellos says. She adds feedback from public meetings last year revealed what she calls unfounded concerns about the city's crime rate and the state of its downtown. She says the crime rate is falling and the city is attracting business, so the mayor's hopeful the new tagline and logo will put extra emphasis on Lebanon's positive attributes. The slogan and logo will be unveiled at HACC's Lebanon Campus at 7 p.m. on January 25.
