(Lancaster) -- A Lancaster safety group is getting ready to start the new year with a cut in funding and one less staff member. The Lancaster Community Safety Coalition, which oversees the city's 165 surveillance cameras, has lost its full-time executive director in an effort to cut costs. Managing Director Wes Farmer, who now heads the organization on a part-time basis, says next year's budget has also been scaled down from years past. "Our operating budget for 2012, the approved budget, is $375,000," he says. "For this year, the approved budget was over $400,000. We've been able to trim it back. Our actual expenses will be about $350,000." But Farmer says the group, which is partly funded by the city of Lancaster and the Lancaster County district attorney's office, will be able to make do with its staffing and financial changes. The cameras can be found around Lancaster, including several points along Queen Street and on the city's square.
