Jerry Sandusky has waived his formal criminal arraignment, which had been scheduled for January 11, 2012. Neither Sandusky nor his attorneys will appear for the proceeding.
The criminal arraignment is a process where the defendant receives a formal notice of the charges against him or her and where the defendant is advised of pretrial rights, such as the right to request Discovery and to file pretrial motions. It is also when a plea of guilty or not guilty is entered. Sandusky's lawyer, Joe Amendola, previously had his client plead not guilty to all charges against him.
The next scheduled court appearance for Sandusky is a pre-trial conference on March 22, 2012 at 1 p.m.
