(Lancaster) -- An organization that provides care for patients who aren't able to leave their homes is adding another midstate partner. Penn State Hershey Health System is teaming up with Horizon Healthcare Services, which provides in-home care to patients in 30 counties, including several in central Pennsylvania. Carolyn Carlson, Horizon's vice president of operations, says the organization offers a wide range of services. "Horizon provides IV therapy to patients in their homes, which would include chemotherapy, patients that may need to be on pain management or enteral therapy as well as antibiotics for patients at home," she says. Carlson says partnering with Penn State Hershey in Dauphin County isn't necessarily new, since nurses affiliated with Horizon have been treating Hershey's patients for years. She adds the partnership is part of an ongoing trend of healthcare systems sharing services to provide more comprehensive care. Other health groups that have already joined Horizon Health Services are PinnacleHealth, The Reading Hospital, and Lancaster General Health.
