(Hershey) -- Two boards related to Milton Hershey School now have a new chairman. Robert Cavanaugh has been elected chair of both the Board of Directors of Hershey Trust Company and the Board of Managers of Milton Hershey School. The Milton Hershey School is the largest residential school for impoverished children in the country, while the Hershey Trust Company oversees the school's endowment and is the majority shareholder in The Hershey Company. Cavanaugh is a 1977 graduate of Milton Hershey School and currently serves as the Chief Investment Officer for Vestar Development Company, a real estate business based in the western United States. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business as well as the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Cavanaugh will take over for LeRoy Zimmerman, who stepped down as chairman of both boards last week. Richard Zilmer, a 1970 Milton Hershey School graduate and the former Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Headquarters Marine Corp, was elected vice chair of both boards. The state Attorney General's office is investigating the trust that runs Milton Hershey School amid questions over how much it paid for a golf course bought to serve as a buffer zone for the school. More recently, the school is facing controversy after it refused admission to a student who's HIV positive.
