(Harrisburg) -- Harrisburg's leader is looking for a financial turnaround for the cash-strapped city in 2012. Mayor Linda Thompson says she is still in charge of the city, despite a state-appointed custodian holding Harriburg's purse strings. Thompson says she and receiver David Unkovic are cooperating on a plan to dig the city out of its more than $300 million debt tied to its trash incinerator. "I am working with Dave Unkovic. There's not a day that goes by where I’m not working with him. We have the institutional knowledge to move this plan forward," Thompson says. She did not offer details of that plan, though she says financial recovery, economic development and public safety are her top pirorities for the new year. She says the city's financial troubles should not translate into higher crime. She has asked city council to approve next year's funding for the city's police force at its current level.
