Governor Tom Corbett says he's disappointed in how Penn State has handled the Jerry Sandusky case

Written by  Mary Wilson

(Camp Hill) -- Governor Corbett says for more than two years, he’s been holding back voicing his disappointment in how Penn State has handled sexual abuse allegations against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. The governor wouldn’t comment on the job status of Penn State University President Graham Spanier, or head coach Joe Paterno. Corbett oversaw the investigation while he served as state Attorney General, before becoming governor. He says one one hand, there’s the legal question of how allegations of sexual abuse were handled, and on the other hand, there’s the moral issue. "I was, I am personally disappointed in the lack of action and had to contain that for the last two plus years," he says. "The board is going to address that." Corbett adds a child predator is "the worst type of person in the world," so he wants to Penn State’s Board of Trustees to act swiftly. The governor is a voting member of the board and says he’ll share his opinion about how to handle the scandal when he meets with trustees tomorrow and Friday. Joe Paterno has announced his retirement at the end of the football season. His statement says it’s so the board spends not a "single minute" discussing his status.

Even more disappointing knowing that Sandusky was being investigated back in 1997 when Corbett was PA AG. But Centre County DA dropped the case.

How could the AG know about this and be disappointed about PSU's lack of action? Where was his action? I didn't know that colleges were charged with investigating felonies and child sex abuse? Isn't that the job of the Attorney General and the police? Someone needs to find out what Corbett and others in law enforcement knew and when, AND most importantly, if any special treatment was given to protect the PSU football program. This whole thing is disgusting.

Yes, I just read this and I am shocked, I'm sure it was all swept under the carpet until Corbett was elected then magically re-appeared, and we're supposed to somehow be convinced he's dissapointed in Penn State's lack of action? OMG!! This whole thing just gets sicker and sicker.
