(Lancaster) -- Governor Corbett is encouraging Harrisburg leaders to adopt the Act 47 financial recovery plan laid out before them. City Council will vote on whether it will accept the Act 47 plan during a special meeting next Tuesday. The governor says the ultimate goal is to move the city out of financially distressed status. "Clearly my preference would be to see Harrisburg and other cities that have these issues work through the Act 47 process. Particularly for Harrisburg, and for Pennsylvania, I don't think it's good when the capital city is filing for bankruptcy," Corbett says. He adds if Harrisburg were to file for bankruptcy, it would damage the reputation of the state. A recent bill signed by Corbett would cut off state aid if Harrisburg were to file for federal bankruptcy protection.
