Governor Corbett introduces the first puppies, Harry and Penny

Written by  Mary Wilson

(Harrisburg) -- The gubernatorial Airedale Terrier puppies are being christened. Harry, the male, is for Harrisburg. Penny, the female, is for Pennsylvania. Harry is subdued, while Penny likes to chew on shoelaces and microphones. First Lady Susan Corbett says the puppies help to make the Governor’s residence a home. "The troopers, you know, when they come out of the security room, they all pay attention to ‘em, and the residence’s staff, you know, stops and talks to them," she says. "Everybody’s been enjoying them."

corbettpupsleepingThe "name the pups" contest was open to kids 12 years and younger in Pennsylvania. The kids who sent in the chosen names will get a signed photo of the Corbetts with the puppies. The Corbetts have had Airedale Terriers in the past - their last Airedale, Daisy, died during the beginning of the gubernatorial campaign in November 2009.
