(Harrisburg) -- With both legislative chambers back at the Capitol after their summer recess, the Governor’s office is still quiet on one of Corbett’s top priorities. When it comes to solving the state’s transportation funding problems, all roads point to the governor. He’s still reviewing a report of recommendations for how to find money for roads and bridges. Dennis Buterbaugh, a PennDOT spokesman, says many of the suggestions will require new law. But he says it’s pointless to start working with legislators already. “We really have to see what the governor thinks is going to want to go forward with what he thinks is appropriate before we even talk about legislation and what’s going to happen down the road,” Buterbaugh says. The recommendations include lifting the cap on the wholesale gas tax, and higher fees for driver’s licenses and vehicle inspections. A spokesperson in the Governor’s office says his administration is reviewing the report, which was submitted on August 1st.
