(Harrisburg) -- Hurricane Irene caused more than one million Pennsylvania households and businesses to lose power last month. So, the state is looking into how well electric utilities managed the outages. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission will hold a public meeting about the storm in Harrisburg next month. PUC spokeswoman Jennifer Kocher says it's important to look into how utilities performed before, during, and after the hurricane. "We want to talk with them a little bit about how their preplanning went, what type of communications they had with their customers, and what efforts they put into restoration of customers," she says. Kocher says some residents lost power for up to 10 days. The meeting will take place on October 12th at 1:30pm at the PUC's Harrisburg facility at 400 North Street.
