Facing Cancer Together: York Co. girl researches cancer-causing chemicals in grilled chicken

(Harrisburg) -- Lauren Hodge, a Dallastown Area High School student from York Township recently won top honors in her age group at the Google Science Fair in California. Her science fair project looked into whether certain marinades reduce the amount of cancer-causing compounds created by the grilling of meat, specifically chicken. As part of WITF's Facing Cancer Together multimedia project, 14-year-old Hodge talked with WITF's Craig Layne.

Congratulations on this prestigious award.
A question is how were you able to see the carcinogens on the chicken. Did she have to go to somewhere like Hershey Medical School to use their specialized equipment or can they be seen by the naked eye.
