Facing Cancer Together: Breakthrough research kills tumors in patients with certain type of leukemia

(Philadelphia) -- Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have achieved a cancer treatment breakthrough after 20 years of work. A team at the Abramson Cancer Center was able to modify blood cells called "T cells" to attack tumors in patients with a certain type of leukemia. As part of witf's Facing Cancer Together multimedia project, witf's Craig Layne spoke with Dr. Bruce Levine, a researcher on the project.
