(Harrisburg) -- E-ZPasses could be sold in Wegmans and WalMart stores across the state. A Turnpike Commission spokesman says it may take another month for the electronic transponders to go on sale at 10 Pennsylvania Wegmans stores. An additional fee would be charged on top of the 41 dollars the Turnpike charges for a transponder. That’s okay with Andrew Primrose, from Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County. He says he might get an E-ZPass if it’s at the Wegmans where he shops. "'Cause I go in Wegmans once a week, easily. And I mean, it’s just easier for that rather than you know, call for it and you know, wait for it, and you know, billing, and whatnot," he says. "If it was sold in Wegmans or WalMart, it’d be so much better." The Turnpike Commission is also working sell E-ZPass at WalMart stores by the end of the year. The retail plans come on the back of another move to get more drivers to pay tolls electronically. The commission recently approved a toll increase. Fares go up 10 percent in 2012, but not for E-ZPass users.
