Deadline to register for FEMA disaster help approaches

Written by  Craig Layne and Radio Pennsylvania

(Undated) -- The deadline to register for federal disaster recovery help from September's record rainfall and flooding is less than three weeks away. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is accepting applications for aid until November 14th. FEMA spokeswoman Susan Solomon says storm damage victims should register -- even if they have insurance... "We have a lot of folks who still think, 'I better wait until my insurance company settles with me.' We want you to first pick up the phone and call your insurance company, and the second number that you call should be 1-800-621-3362 and register with FEMA," Solomon says. She says more than 85,000 households have registered for help in the 28 disaster-declared counties -- including several in the midstate. November 14th is also the deadline for US Small Business Administration loans to help with recovery. A representative from the SBA will be on Friday's Radio Smart Talk at 9 a.m. on witf 89.5 and 93.3 to talk about storm recovery.
