(Carlisle) -- A car exhibition that's marking an important milestone is expected to draw about 60,000 visitors to Cumberland County this weekend. Corvettes at Carlisle is celebrating its thirtieth show at the Carlisle Fairgrounds with a display of more than 5,000 vehicles and a giveaway of a 1991 Corvette ZR1. Mike Garland is the spokesman for Carlisle Events. He says it's nostalgia that brings Corvette lovers back to the event every year. "You think about the role that cars play in our lives growing up, whether it was sitting on your parents' lap, steering the wheel as you went from the house down to the corner, or a car that you saw in a movie," he says. "Whether you realize it or not, so many cars are synonymous with Hollywood." The show will feature a display of cars of the new Carlisle Blue color, which General Motors introduced earlier this year. A documentary about the late Chip Miller, a founder of Carlisle Events, was screened last night. He worked on restoring a racing car that won races in France in the 1960s. The car show runs today through Sunday.
