Catholic bishop pens letter against federal health care plan to be read at masses

Written by  Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer

(Harrisburg) -- A midstate Catholic bishop is urging all priests within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg to read a letter he wrote denouncing President Obama's health care plan at all masses this weekend. In his letter, the diocese's Bishop, Joseph McFadden, points to the federal Department of Health and Human Services rule requiring all employers to offer plans including sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs, and contraception. McFadden says these practices go against church law. The move comes about a week after McFadden issued a statement voicing his opposition to the plan. He urges people to sign a petition on the diocese's website asking Congress to revoke the measure.
