The September 11th attacks were a wake-up call to America. Many were surprised that an attack of that scale could take place on American soil. Shortly after the attacks, the Department of Homeland Security was formed, with the responsibility of protecting the United States from terrorist attacks.
Many additional security measures have been added since the attacks. Transportation laws are stricter, the USA PATRIOT Act was passed to help government officials detect terrorism, emergency response has become more coordinated and the government has advised Americans to establish emergency preparedness kits.
In light of the attacks and the follow-up measures that have been taken over the past 10 years, do you feel safe? Does your family have a plan for emergency situations? Do you think we are better prepared as a country for a terrorist attack now than we were in 2001? Are you comfortable trading some personal freedom for more security?
