2019 State of the Union - Updated

NPR is reporting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has invited President Donald Trump to deliver his State of the Union speech to a joint-session of congress on February 5, 2019 at 9:00pm.  Coverage of the speech will be available on WITF 89.5 & 93.3 and WITF TV.  The speech will also be live-streamed audio and video.  

 

 

Updated 1:30pm January 24, 2019:

The State of the Union, which was scheduled for next Tuesday, January 29, 9:00pm-11:00pm, has been postponed. It is expected to be rescheduled after the government shutdown is over. In the meantime:

FM: NPR News Special coverage will be replaced with regularly scheduled programming.

TV: Surviving the Dust Bowl: American Experience at 9:00pm and FRONTLINE: Gang Crackdown at 11:00pm

Tuesday, January 29, 2019, President Donald Trump will deliver his State of the Union address starting at 9:00pm. NPR and PBS will provide live coverage of the President's speech as well as the Democratic response. 

Details about what the President may cover in his address, who will give the response and other aspects of our coverage across platforms are still developing.
