Longtime NPR newscaster and Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me Scorekeeper Carl Kasell passed away from complications of Alzheimer's on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

NPR CEO Jarl Mohn remembered Carl as "a titan in broadcasting, a singular spirit who brought us the news as well as laughter during the course of his many years in public radio. Carl's warm and resonant voice, his unerring news judgment, and his gentle, kind spirit have connected with generations of public radio listeners and staff members at NPR and Member stations across the country. We all feel his loss deeply."

This weekend Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me will feature a rememberence during the broadcast on WITF Saturday at 11.

You can also read through this reflection of Carl Kassell from 2014 at the time when he retired as official score-keeper from Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me, and a rememberence from Peter Sagal that aired earlier this week on Morning Edition
