Join us for a special two-night presentation of Independent Lens on WITF.  On May 9 and 10, the overarching theme of "Armed in America," will further the national conversation around American guns. The two-night event centers around two new Independent Lens films, "Peace Officer" and "The Armor of Light," with America After town hall discussions following each film seamlessly and building off of the content of each film.

Two acclaimed documentaries are presented by Independent Lens: "Peace Officer," about a former sheriff who, after establishing and training Utah's first SWAT team, raises questions about the dangers of what he sees as the increased militarization of police when that same unit kills his son-in-law 30 years later (airs Monday, May 9 at 9:00pm, and "The Armor of Light," which profiles the faith journeys of two Christians as they fight gun violence: the mother of a teenage shooting victim and an evangelical minister who questions whether one can be both pro-gun and pro-life. (airs Tuesday, May 10 at 8:00pm).

Following both broadcasts Michel Martin, weekend host of NPR's "All Things Considered," will moderate taped town hall discussions at the Northland Church in Longwood, Florida.

Join the conversation on social media using the hashtags #PeaceOfficerPBS and #ArmorOfLightPBS during the broadcast on May 9 and 10 on WITF.
