Thanksgiving with WITF Radio

Written by Fred Vigeant, Director of Programming and Promotions for TV and Radio | Nov 4, 2015 11:54 AM

This Thanksgiving WITF 89.5 & 93.3 is the perfect companion throughout the day while you celebrate the day.  Listen for familar voices focusing on Thanksgiving with Marketplace, Snap Judgment, and The Splendid Table.  Also be sure to leave some room for annual specials Giving Thanks and Cantus later in the day. Happy Thanksgiving!  Our normal programming between 9:00am and 4:00pm, and 7:00pm to 10:00pm will take a well-deserved day off.

9:00am - 10:00am - Marketplace Takes Care of Holiday Business - The Marketplace Weekend team looks at where the holidays meet money. Host Lizzie O'Leary is joined by some of APM's biggest names to explore that intersection, tell some stories, and help you financially navigate the holiday season.

10:00am - 11:00am - Gratitude from Snap Judgment - 'Tis the season to consider those things that we are most thankful for. And so this week on Snap Judgment we're taking a look back on some of the stories we've done that touch on this theme of gratitude, because we are so thankful.

11:00am - 12:00pm - Thanksgiving is for Eaters -  Hosted by Dan Pashman of The Sporkful podcast, Cooking Channel's You're Eating It Wrong and the new book, Eat More Better: How to Make Every Bite More Delicious, is an entertaining combination of in-studio interviews, listener calls, and in-kitchen segments with food and drink experts, as well as some of public radio's favorite personalities.

12:00pm - 2:00pm - The Splendid Table's Turkey Confidential (Live) -  On Thursday, November 26, help is on the way for Thanksgiving cooks, kitchen helpers and dinner guests on this, the biggest cooking day of the year. Lynne Rossetto Kasper, award-winning host of public radio's national food show The Splendid Table®, will be available to answer listener questions throughout the live, two-hour program. Quickly becoming a Thanksgiving morning tradition, past shows have included everything from a cross-country trucker cooking his Thanksgiving dinner on the manifold to a panicked first-time cook who didn't realize a turkey needs to be thawed. Lynne handles all questions with wit, expertise and laughter.

2:00pm - 4:00pm - Giving Thanks -  New for 2015, two special guests: an artist in the kitchen, and an artist at the piano:  Christopher Kimball, founder, editor, and publisher of Cook's Illustrated Magazine, and host of public television's most-watched cooking show, America's Test Kitchen. He'll take us to his Vermont farm for a New England Thanksgiving, and talk about the experiences for which he's most grateful.  Also, Patrick Stewart reads autumn poems from John Keats and Antonio Vivaldi

We return to regular programming for All Things Considered and Marketpalce 4:00pm - 7:00pm

7:00pm - 8:00pm - Thanksgiving with Cantus - Cantus is one of the premiere men's vocal ensembles, and with Alison Young, talk about the holiday, music, and food.

8:00pm - 10:00pm - Giving Thanks (repeat)  See description above
