Summer Changes to PBS Kids

Written by Fred Vigeant, Director of Programming and Promotions for TV and Radio | May 5, 2015 10:00 AM

Beginning June 1 WITF will feature some exciting changes to our PBS Kids schedule.

About this time last year, PBS introduced a very dramatic change to the children's program grid that included double the episodes of some of our favorite programs including Dinosaur Train and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood among others.  That strategy continues as PBS and WITF noticed strong enthusiasm surrounding back to back episodes of these popular programs.

As we turn to the summer months, we're making some adjustments to the afternoon schedule to bring back two series that have been on vacation from the WITF schedule for the past year.  The early afternoon schedule will now be as follows:

  • 2:00pm - Peg + Cat
  • 2:30pm - Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That
  • 3:00pm - Thomas & Friends Learning Together
  • 3:30pm - Cyberchase
  • 4:00pm - Arthur

Peg + Cat goes to a single episode at 2:00pm. Cat In the Hat moves an hour earlier.  Thomas & Friends and Cyberchase are added to the schedule.  The 30 minute edition of Sesame Street is dropped (hour long versions remain at 9:00am and 7:00pm).  The rest of the schedule remains unchanged.  This schedule begins Monday June 1 and will remain through the end of August.  Around Labor Day Weekend, changes will occur as children adjust their viewing habits with the new school year.  View the entire schedule here...
