Reprise of the Roosevelts

Ken Burns's seven-part documentary weaves the stories of Theodore, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, three members of one of the most prominent and influential families in American politics. The 14-hour series marks the first time their individual stories have been woven into a single narrative. This special presentation is a rebroadcast of the September broadcast. The series will air on WITF Tuesdays at 8:00pm beginning May 5:

  • May 5 - Examine the early lives of Theodore Roosevelt and his younger cousin, Franklin.
  • May 12  - Follow Ken Burns's account of Theodore's presidency and FDR and Eleanor's courtship and marriage.
  • May 19  - Join Ken Burns as he traces the effects of WWI on the lives of the Roosevelts.
  • May 26 - Witness Ken Burns's coverage of FDR's battle with polio and his response to the Great Depression.
  • June 2 - Examine FDR's New Deal and Eleanor's growing political activism.
  • June 9 - Survey FDR's leadership during WWII, while Eleanor tends to wounded servicemen.
  • June 16 - Examine Eleanor's role as civil rights and U.N champion after FDR's death.
