Starting in September, WITF will air its original production, “HealthSmart,” at 3:30 p.m. Saturdays. The Emmy Award winning program is in its ninth season. New this fall, “HealthSmart” will focus on memory. What have researchers learned over the years about memory? How are memories created and stored in the brain? Plus the show will cover the latest on dementia research and what can be done to strengthen memory. Don’t miss “HealthSmart: Memory” at 8 p.m. Sept. 25.

In November, primary care will be examined. For a long time, the public had a system that treated people when they were sick. Today the goal is to have a system that keeps people well. If such a system can be transformed, the primary care physician will play a large role. How close are we to achieving that goal? Are patients noticing changes? Don’t miss “HealthSmart: Primary Care” at 8 p.m. Nov. 20.
