Written by Fred Vigeant, Director of Programming and Promotions for TV and Radio | Nov 5, 2013 3:17 PM

Everyday at 2:00pm on witf FM join us for ideas and information. This thoughtfully selected collection of programs will stimulate the mind, and create opportunities to learn something new. Every day you’ll hear something new on The Idea Exchange. Here is a rundown of the programs you will hear week to week on witf at 2:00pm:

  • Monday - On the Media - Decoding what we hear, read, and see in the media every day, and arms us with critical tools necessary to survive the information age. More information...
  • Tuesday - Radiolab - An experiential investigation that explores themes and ideas through a patchwork of people, sounds, and stories. In each episode, Radiolab experiments with sound and style allowing science to fuse with culture, and information to sound like music. More information...
  • TED_dark_200.jpg
Wednesday - TED Radio Hour - A journey through fascinating ideas, astonishing inventions and new ways to think and create. Each episode includes riveting excerpts from the renowned TED stage where some of the world's deepest thinkers and innovators are invited to give the 18-minute "talk of their lives." More information...
  • Thursday – To The Best of Our Knowledge - An audio magazine of ideas and entertaining radio for people with curious minds. It's journalistic, but it's never about the president's speech to the U.N., weapons inspections in Iraq, or yesterday's stock market disaster. It's the kind of show that would spend an hour on advertising or on the roots of hip- hop. More information...
  • Friday – Science Friday - Coverings the outer reaches of space to the tiniest microbes in our bodies. Science Friday is the trusted source for news about science, technology, and other cool stuff. Each week, host Ira Flatow mixes it up with people in the know and those who want to be. It's brain fun, for curious people. More information...

The Idea Exchange begins November 18 on witf FM at 2:00pm.

Why the change?  Currently at 2:00pm Monday through Thursday is The Story from American Public Media.  It was announced in late August the show will be discontinued with the departure of the show's host Dick Gordon. You can read more about it at WUNC's website where the show has been produced.

Are there any other changes I should be aware of?  Yes, if you are an early bird on the weekends.  Ted Radio Hour will also broadcast Saturdays at 6:00am.  To The Best of Our Knowledge will run in its entirety (because it is a two-hour program) Sundays 5:00am to 7:00am.  Only the first hour will air Thursday at 2:00pm.  On The Media and Radiolab will continue at their previously scheduled times over the weekend.

I was sitting here listening to On the Media and I suddenly realized, Hey, wait a minute! What day is this?

Glad I was able to find this notice of your scheduling change!

If you ever decide to reconsider this 2 PM line-up, maybe you'd think about broadcasting Democracy Now?

LOL, I know, it'll never happen.

But On the Media is one of the best shows out there, so I don't mind.
