Plant a tree during our FM Fall Fundraising Drive

Written by witf | Oct 11, 2013 6:43 AM

During witf FM’s Fall Fundraising drive, donors will have the opportunity to purchase a tree that will be planted through the Journey Through Hallowed Ground Project.

This project is a multi-state tree planting initiative and coincides with the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War. There will be one tree planted as a living legacy for each of the 620,000 soldiers who sacrificed their lives on the battlefields during the War Between the States. These trees will be planted along the byway from Gettysburg, PA all the way to Monticello, VA.

There will be a tree planting ceremony on November 19th at the Gettysburg National Military Park to coincide with the 150th anniversary of President Lincoln’s historical Gettysburg Address.

For your gift of $75 to witf, you can take part in this historic initiative. You may select a soldier to honor and each tree will be geo-tagged to allow Smart Phone users to learn the story of the soldier. Make your contribution today!
