Where is Doc Martin?

Is Doc Martin cancelled? The answer is no.  We just wrapped up season 3 on witf, and we're in a brief summer-time break.

Did you know Doc Martin premiered on witf less than a year ago?  We welcomed Martin Ellingham’s snarky attitude into our hearts last September.   Since then, witf has regularly broadcast the show on Saturday and Thursday nights.  The program has slowly but surely become a hit in Central Pa! You love it.  So far, we have broadcast seasons 1 through 3 of Doc Martin

We recently acquired the rights to broadcast season 4.  What does that mean? This program comes to witf in a different manner than a majority of our programming.  Doc Martin is a syndicated show, and witf has to acquire rights to each individual season in order to broadcast them to you.

With the recent acquisition of season 4, witf can now broadcast seasons 1 through 4 through the end of the broadcast window of our contract which comes up next spring.  At that point, we will have to make a decision on re-acquiring the rights to season 1 through 4 to air again, in addition to season 5, or just grab season 5.  The more seasons of Doc Martin acquired simultaneously, the more expensive it is.  One side note to all of this, season 6 is wrapping up production right now.

In the meantime, Doc Martin is on a very brief break.  He returns with an encore of season 3 on August 24 continuing its recent broadcast schedule at 9:00pm on both Saturday and Thursday.  Season 3 will immediately be followed by season 4 on witf in late October.

Doc Martin is a great program and I have really enjoyed it. I know the program is on hiatus now but I can't wait until it returns. I hope it airs weekly and isn't pre-empted in any week. Thank you for programming such a great show. Bill Rhodes
