On Monday there will be a few changes to our weekday afternoon schedule on witf FM. This change to our schedule was necessitated by NPR's announcement to cease production of Talk of the Nation. Today (June 27) is the last day of Talk of the Nation. Talk of the Nation Science Friday will continue on witf and be known simply as Science Friday. It will continue to broadcast at 2:00pm and 10:00pm Fridays. Meanwhile, Here and Now is expanding from a one-hour show to a two-hour show. It will continue to begin at noon on witf. This will mean that The Story, which currently airs at 1:00pm will move to 2:00pm except on Fridays because of Science Friday. Friday's The Story will broadcast Sunday mornings at 6:00 right before On Being.
Here and Now will now be distributed by NPR. Previously it came to witf via Public Radio International (PRI). This change shouldn't make too much of a difference to you, but you will notice more familiar voices filing reports within Here and Now that you often hear during Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
To Recap, here is the schedule beginning 7/1/13:
12:00pm - 2:00pm - Here and Now
2:00pm - 3:00pm - The Story (except Friday, Science Friday broadcasts)
One other minor change is that at 10:00pm where previously witf broadcast the second hour of Talk of the Nation on a tape-delay, we will now provide a repeat of Fresh Air. Fresh Air remains at 3:00pm but this will offer you an additional opportunity to hear Terry Gross on witf, except on Friday when Science Friday's second hour will air.
