'A Prairie Home Companion' bus trip and more highlight radio pledge drive

Our spring radio pledge drive starts April 19, and we're very excited to be able to offer you a number of great thank you gifts for your donation to witf! Get more information about these opportunities below:

A Prairie Home Companion bus trip

On May 25, we'll be taking a bus trip to the beautiful Wolf Trap Theatre in Virginia to attend a live taping of "A Prairie Home Companion." The buses will depart at around noon at Lancaster, York and Harrisburg locations. Lunch will be included. The show starts at 5:45 p.m. For your donation of $365 to witf, you will receive a gift of two tickets, which includes the bus to the event, show tickets, snacks and a boxed lunch. For your donation of $300 to witf, you will receive a gift of two tickets to the event, with no bus ride, snacks or lunch included.

Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me

A live staging of Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! will be beamed to cinemas across the country on Thursday, May 2.

Host Peter Sagal and official judge and scorekeeper Carl Kasell will be joined by panelists Paula Poundstone, Mo Rocca and Tom Bodett to play the quiz in front of a live audience. Carl reading limericks! Celebrity guests answering stupid questions! Faces made for radio! You've heard it in 1D, now see it live in glorious...2D.

Don't miss Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! Live on the big screen on Thursday, May 2, at 8:00pm. An encore presentation will also be available Tuesday, May 7 at 7:30pm.

For your donation of $75 to witf, you'll receive two tickets to see the staging at Susquehanna 14 in Harrisburg, Lebanon Valley Stadium 10, The Penn Cinema in Lititz, Hanover Movies 16 in Hanover or Cinema Center of Camp Hill 12.

Tree Planting:

Donors will have the opportunity to purchase a tree that will be planted through the Journey Through Hallowed Ground Project. This project is a multi-state tree planting initiative. The focus area in Pennsylvania would be along Rt. 15 from Gettysburg to the Maryland line. The project aims to plant 620,000 trees from Gettysburg, PA to Monticello, VA, honoring the lives of the lost Civil War Solders. We will be in touch with more details about the event when the tree planting is scheduled. You can take advantage of this opportunity for your gift of $75 to witf.

Mount Gretna Theatre

The donor will receive a gift of a pair of tickets to the show of their choice during the 2012 season for a donation of $100 to witf. The 2013 season is as follows:

  • June 1 - Faith Prince
  • June 8 - Pam Tillis
  • June 13-23 - My Way, A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra
  • June 27- 30 - Watson, The Last Great Tale of the Legendary Sherlock Holmes
  • July 11-21 - Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate
  • July 25-August 3 - The Wizard of Oz
  • August 22-25 - The Bikinis, A New Musical Beach Party

Music and Wine Festival

June 15 & 16 3-9 p.m. at Fort Hunter Park, Harrisburg, PA

This year, take a step back in time to the days when Elvis was cool, The Blues Brothers had a huge following and Michael Jackson's hit was "Thriller". Enjoy listening to the vibes of national and local recording artists amidst a scenic, historical park. Browse among some of Central Pennsylvania's top wineries and a fine gathering of wine, craft and food vendors. You will receive two tickets to the festival for your gift of $75 to witf.

BrewFest

July 20 3-7 p.m. at Fort Hunter Park, Harrisburg, PA

Join Dauphin County Parks and Recreation as they welcome over 30 craft brews to the 2nd Annual BrewFest! Sip on craft brews while tasting foods from area restaurants and listening to great music! Set along the Susquehanna River in front of the Fort Hunter Mansion - this is an event not to be missed! You will receive two tickets to the festival for your gift of $75 to witf.

Garrison Keillor

July 29 at 8 p.m. at American Music Theater, Lancaster

You will receive two tickets to see Garrison Keillor for your gift of $250 to witf.

Jazz and Wine Festival

September 7 & 8 4-9 p.m. at  Fort Hunter Park, Harrisburg, PA

This event features two days of jazz music and wine tastings from 15 of Pennsylvania's best wineries. You will receive two tickets to the festival for your gift of $75 to witf.

In addition to all of these great oppurtunities, we also have witf lunch totes, mugs, umbrellas and tote bags available.
