America’s Home Cooking: Dinner for Two - Noon

Chris Fennimore hosts and invites some of his favorite cooks from the past 16 years of cooking shows to join him in the kitchen. From classics like “Zesty Chicken Cacciatore” to modern fare like “Colorful and Healthy Couscous, Apricot & Pistachio Salad,” the more than 100 recipes in AMERICA’S HOME COOKING: DINNER FOR TWO recreate the most popular dishes ever submitted to the cooking series but scaled down to fit smaller families and singles. During the program they’ll demonstrate:

  • Cheesy Manicotti
  • A Healthy Zucchini Stew
  • Greek Style Chicken and Rice Casserole
  • Baked Fish with Fennel/Pepper Slaw
  • Creamy but Low-Fat Butternut Squash Soup
  • Old Fashioned Baked Apples

America’s Home Cooking: Chocolate - 3 p.m.

Since the time of the ancient Aztecs chocolate has been the ultimate comfort food and guilty pleasure. Now we know that chocolate can actually be good for you! AMERICA’S HOME COOKING: CHOCOLATE asked viewers to send their favorite chocolate recipes for cakes, cookies, pies, soufflés, sauces, brownies, fudge, truffles and mousse. What resulted was a double dark chocolate day of delicious cooking, including a Kentucky Derby Pie laced with bourbon, a minty chocolate layer cake, a chocolate bread pudding with moist chunks of pear, a chicken braised in a poblano mole sauce, pistachio and chocolate matzo brittle, and many more fabulous family recipes for brownies, cookies, biscotti and other treats.

During these shows, we'll be offering special thank you gifts for your donation to witf. Contributing to witf helps everyone in your community benefit from award-winning news, programs and articles that open us up to exciting new ideas and worlds. For your gift of $65, you can receive either "America's Home Cooking: Dinner for Two Cookbook" or "America's Home Cooking: Chocolate Cookbook." Donate online now!

We are also offering you the option of sending your loved ones roses during this pledge drive. With your contribution of $120, witf will send one dozen boxed, long-stemmed red roses to a loved one, complete with a personalized message. A half-dozen boxed, long-stemmed red roses  will be sent on your behalf for a gift of $85. The flowers can be delivered anywhere in the United States. If you prefer, you can also choose a "rainbow" rose bouquet instead of the red bouquet. You may add a small bear to your half or full dozen order for an additional $10. So a half dozen roses with a small bear would be $95, and a dozen roses with a small bear would be $130. We are also offering a special "Wow!" bouquet for $250. This very special bouquet features 2 dozen red, long-stem roses in a lead crystal vase. This bouquet can only be delivered in the local Royer's coverage area, however. You can also send the "Wow!" bouquet with a large 24 inch plush stuffed bear for $365.
