Thanksgiving Cooking Call-in

On Thursday, November 22, help is on the way for Thanksgiving cooks, kitchen helpers and dinner guests on this, the biggest cooking day of the year. Lynne Rossetto Kasper, award-winning host of public radio's national food show The Splendid Table, will be available to answer listener questions throughout the live, two-hour program.  Past shows have included everything from a cross-country trucker cooking his Thanksgiving dinner on the manifold to a panicked first-time cook who didn't realize a turkey needs to be thawed. Lynne handles all questions with wit, expertise and laughter. Phone lines (800-537-5252) will be open nationwide from 11am to 1pm for you to participate.

Marcus Samuelsson
The internationally acclaimed chef behind Red Rooster Harlem, Ginny's Supper Club and American Table Café and Bar by Marcus Samuelsson; a committed philanthropist; and The New York Times-bestselling author of Yes, Chef. Chef Samuelsson has amazed the culinary industry not only with his technical excellence but also with his ability to infuse food with a diversity of cultures. After being orphaned in Ethiopia at the age of 3, Chef Samuelsson was adopted by a Swedish couple who encouraged his passion for food and cooking. Named one of the "The Great Chefs of America" by the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Samuelsson's culinary education developed with apprenticeships in Switzerland, Austria and France before he settled in the United States. At the young age of 24, during his time as executive chef at Aquavit, Chef Samuelsson impressed the culinary world by receiving consecutive four-star ratings from Forbes and became the youngest person to receive two three-star ratings from The New York Times. In addition to his many other successes and accomplishments, Chef Samuelsson was honored with the task of planning and executing the Obama Administration's first State dinner for President Obama and his family, Prime Minister Singh of India and 400 of their guests in 2009.

Rick Bayless
Most people know Rick Bayless from winning the title of Bravo's Top Chef Master in 2009, beating out the French and Italian with his authentic Mexican cuisine. His highly rated on-going Public Television Series, Mexico—One Plate at a Time has aired in the past on witf-tv. Among his seven award-winning cookbooks, Rick's second book, Mexican Kitchen, won the Julia Childs IACP cookbook of the year award in 1996; and his fourth book, Mexico—One Plate at a Time won the James Beard Best International Cookbook of the Year award in 2001. His side-by-side, award-winning restaurants in Chicago, the casual Frontera Grill and the 4-star Topolobampo, were founded in 1987. In 2007, Frontera Grill won for Outstanding Restaurant by the James Beard Organization. His award-winning Frontera line of salsas, grilling sauces and organic chips can be found coast to coast. Frontera foods also created the quick-serve Frontera Fresco's located in select Macy's stores in Chicago and San Francisco.

Ina Garten
Ina Garten is one of the country's most beloved culinary icons and the author of seven bestselling cookbooks. She is the host of the popular Barefoot Contessa show on Food Network. In 2009, Ina was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle/Culinary Host. She also has a line of Barefoot Contessa baking mixes available nationwide.

Peter Sagal
A native of Berkeley Heights, N.J., Peter Sagal attended Harvard University and subsequently squandered that education while working as a literary manager for a regional theater, a movie publicist, a stage director, an actor, an extra in a Michael Jackson video, a travel writer, an essayist, a ghost writer for a former adult film impresario and a staff writer for a motorcycle magazine. Since 1998, he has hosted Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me, which airs on 450 stations including witf. Sagal is also a playwright whose work has appeared in theaters large and small.
