TV fundraising campaign fan favorites

For the last several days our TV fundraising campaign, we'll be re-airing our fan's favorite shows from throughout the pledge. If you missed any of them, or loved them so much that you can't wait to watch them again, then this is your chance!

Monday, August 20:

1-3 p.m. - Use Your Brain To Change Your Age

In this program, award-winning psychiatrist, brain imaging expert and best-selling author Dr. Daniel Amen shares simple steps to boost your brain to help you live longer, look younger and dramatically decrease your risk for Alzheimer’s disease. A healthy brain is the key to staying vibrant and alive for a long time and an unhealthy brain will take your life early. By adopting the brain healthy strategies detailed in “Use Your Brain to Change Your Age”, you can outsmart your genes, put the brakes on aging and even reverse the aging process.

8-11 p.m. - Great Sceneic Railway Journeys: Steam

Great Scenic Railway Journeys: Steam explores the impact the steam engine had on North America by visiting 17 of the continent's most historic and scenic tourist steam railroads. This special takes viewers from the frozen tundra of Alaska to the vast high desert of Arizona, and from the rolling hills of New Hampshire and the Black Hills of South Dakota to the prairies and vast mountain ranges of Canada. The program also visits Steamtown National Historic Site, provides a first-hand lesson on how a steam engine works, and shows why millions of people each year are drawn to visit and ride steam railways.

Tuesday, August 21:

1-3 p.m. - Suze Orman's Money Class

In SUZE ORMAN’S MONEY CLASS, financial powerhouse Suze Orman delivers her expert take on what actions everyone needs to consider to secure a hopeful and sustainable financial future in light of the new economic reality. After the upheavals of the economic downturn that began in 2008, Orman believes it’s critical to rethink many of the traditional strategies we’ve been using to achieve our financial goals.

 8-10 p.m. - Doo Wop Love Songs

Headlining the romantic rhythms are the immortal Little Anthony & the Imperials with their timeless top-10 tune “Tears on My Pillow” and “Two People in the World.”

Among the doo-wop pioneers who reunite in this historic special are the Tokens with their pair of 1961 smashes “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and “Tonight I Fell in Love.” Cleveland Still & the Dubs reprise their 1957 spine-tingler “Could This Be Magic,” and the Classics reminisce with the sweetly sentimental “Til Then.”

The Original Drifters, with founding singer Bill Pinkney, gather for the first time on public television to present the holiday favorite “White Christmas.” Sadly, this was among Pinkney’s final performances; he passed away on July 4, 2007. Later group members, billed as Charlie Thomas’ Drifters, appear along with one of the group’s most famous singers, Ben E. King, for the iconic “Stand By Me.”

DOO WOP LOVE SONGS also features musical memories from a beloved solo artist: Carol Connors, original lead singer for The Teddy Bears, wistfully sings the million-selling standard “To Know Him Is to Love Him” (1958).

10-11:30 p.m. - Oscar Hammerstein II Out of My Dreams

OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II — OUT OF MY DREAMS is a celebration of the most acclaimed lyricist and librettist of the 20th century, the man who worked in the theater for more than 40 years, writing the lyrics for more than a thousand songs and the libretti for dozens of operettas and musicals performed on Broadway, in London and in Hollywood films. His legendary works include Rose-Marie (1924), Show Boat (1927), Oklahoma! (1943), Carousel (1945), South Pacific (1949), The King and I (1951) and The Sound of Music (1959).

Wednesday, August 22:

1-3 p.m. - 3 Steps to Incredible Health

3 STEPS TO INCREDIBLE HEALTH! with Joel Fuhrman, M.D. is a sixty-minute PBS pledge program that directly addresses the crisis of obesity and chronic disease plaguing America. Dr. Fuhrman offers a healthy, effective, and scientifically proven plan for shedding weight quickly and reclaiming the vitality and good health we all deserve.

 8-10 p.m. - Celtic Thunder Voyage

Following the incredible success of Heritage, Celtic Thunder continues to explore their Irish and Celtic roots in VOYAGE. The ensemble performances in this new Public Television special highlight the diversity of Irish music and song. In VOYAGE Celtic Thunder takes a journey through the varying styles of Celtic and Irish music, from old and traditional standards such as Lagan Love and Maid of Culmore to more contemporary, modern Irish songs, Ride On and All Day Long, stopping at lively ensembles Galway Girl and a tribute to the Clancy Brothers in the Clancy Brother Medley along the way. It is also the first Celtic Thunder show where all of the artists play different instruments.

10-11:30 p.m. - Dr. Fuhrman's Immunity Solution!
