Morning Edition heads out on a special summer road trip with "Dead Stop: Famous Final Resting Places of Americans Great and Small." The series takes listeners to strange, funny, historic or otherwise notable gravesites and cemeteries around the U.S., touching on American history, biography, art, religion and land use along the way.
Coming up, we visit Coon Dog Cemetery on September 3rd. Debbie Elliott takes us to the Key Underwood Coondog Memorial Graveyard in Cherokee, Alabama. It's a burial spot near a popular hunting camp, and only allows coon hounds -- no other dog breeds -- to reside here.
We'll learn more about Coon Dog Mondy September 3rd on Morning Edition on witf, your home for NPR News and All Things Regional.
Does this story sound interesting? Check out the previous "Dead Stop" from August 14th where they visited Boot Hill in Tombstone, Arizonia.
