Hello from Planet Earth! Specifically, hello from Central PA, and welcome to the Nurturing Nature blog. Stay tuned information about local nature hotspots, news, and events, citizen science opportunites, and other fun project ideas and inspriation. Also expect a sprinkling of nature news, images, and video from around the world, thanks to the power of the World Wide Web. Yes, I have fully embraced the modern paradox of connecting to the natural world via the virtual world, plugging in to get inspired to unplug and vice versa; and I believe that the more we learn about the planet and how interconnected everything is, the more we can be inspired to appreciate and protect our little piece of it. Despite that irony of this being an online endeavour, I do hope you too can find that healthy balance between screen time and dirt time and that together we can do our part to help combat the ever-growing epidemic of "Nature-Deficit Disorder" (a term coined by author Richard Louv in his seminal book Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder, a highly recommended read).
