Major Dick Winters
In June 2012, the late Dick Winters, a Lancaster County native and longtime Hershey area resident, was honored in Normandy, France and witf was there to cover it. A statue in the likeness of the leader of the Band of Brothers was unveiled near Utah Beach in honor of the leadership displayed by all junior U.S. Military officers during the Normandy invasion on June 6, 1944. WITF covered the event in a series titled: Hang Tough: Dick Winters in Normandy.
