WITF Spellers; Are Oscars relevant?

Written by  Craig Cohen

Radio Smart Talk for Friday, February 25:

WITF-TV viewers will have a front-row seat on Sunday, February 27 at 6 p.m. as some of the brightest and best students in the region go head to head in a championship spelldown. The winner will represent Central PA at the Scripps National Spelling Bee near Washington, D.C., in June.  Tune in Friday morning to learn more about about the Spelling Bee and to hear the 2nd Annual Radio Smart Talk Spelloff...

Also, are we still fascinated with the Oscars? While ratings have fluctuated in recent years, the annual Academy Awards telecast still draws tens of millions of viewers, typically second only to the Super Bowl in popularity.  And yet, a proliferation of televised awards shows may be leading to a sort of ‘award fatigue’ on the part of viewers – and the industry itself.

We'll discuss whether it's still a wonderful night for Oscar with NPR film critic Bob Mondello on Friday's Radio Smart Talk.
