Radio Smart Talk for Tuesday, February 22:
WITF's Real Life | Real Issues series focuses on homelessness in the Midstate region this month. The annual count of homeless people has just been completed throughout the area. Even though the economy is recovering, many families and individuals have struggled and could lead one to assume that there are more people living on the streets or in shelters. Some counties have seen increases but Lancaster County has counted fewer homeless people fo the thirs straight year.
What does the face homelessness look like today? Are there more families? How do people become homeless? What about the rural homeless? What services are available? What role do drugs and alcohol play in some becoming homeless? All these questions on Tuesday's Radio Smart Talk.
Be sure to tune in to One Step Away: A Community Forum on Homelessness on WITF-TV, Tuesday, March 1 at 8 p.m.
