There's no question: The daily responsibilities of raising a family can be challenging. But if you're one of the approximately one million people in Pennsylvania caring for an older family member in addition to your own spouse and children, things can get even more complicated.
"About 29 percent of the U.S. population is providing care for a frail family member, and they are spending an average of 20 hours a week doing so," says Dr. Linda Rhodes, a former Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging who is credited with initiating Pennsylvania's Family Caregiver Support Program, often cited as a national model for caregiving.
