Excellence can be found in many fields, from business and politics, to medicine, science and the arts. Who are the people of excellence in Central Pennsylvania, and what makes them tick? Go Beyond the Bio in witf’s monthly radio series, a Q&A with central Pennsylvanians who’ve made an important contribution to our region, the nation or beyond. You’ll hear from philanthropists, artists, politicians, judges, activists, CEOs, inventors and physicians who will share their insights and the ingredients of their success. Beyond the Bio—monthly on witf.
The Green Urban Initiative is an organization focused on helping the residents of Harrisburg build more sustainable urban communities. Currently it’s working on developing a community vegetable garden program to provide assistance to urban communities with the development of these gardens. The group has been officially in existence for five years and is led by the organization's President Jason Zubler, who grew up in Hershey and attended Penn State. While he never considered himself a leader, his reading about sustainable living and the birth of his first child led him to organize a group to try and improve the Harrisburg community. As part of our Beyond the Bio series on people who’ve made significant contributions to the region, WITF's Joe Ulrich sat down to talk with Zubler about his life and work.
