(Lebanon) -- A man who fatally shot a homeowner in Lebanon County during a robbery last year has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance for parole.

Scott Kirchner received his sentence earlier this week.

He was convicted in September of murder, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault and related charges.

Authorities say the Lebanon man shot and killed Joseph Blanco as Blanco stood in front of his wife and family to protect them during the September 2017 robbery.

Blanco's wife testified at the trial that she was shot in the hip first, and her husband was fatally shot in the chest when he stood between her and Kirchner.

County prosecutors say Kirchner broke into the Blanco home because he wanted to steal money from the couple's son, who was dealing drugs.
