(Philadelphia) -- Philadelphia has paid out $600,000 to settle a lawsuit against a city police officer who has now cost the city more than $1 million in taxpayer money.

The city Law Department says it settled an excessive force lawsuit with 59-year-old Gregory Porterfield, who was shot eight times by Officer Cyrus Mann and Officer Joseph Reiber in 2014 during a traffic stop. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the settlement means the city has paid more than $1.2 million to settle lawsuits involving Mann.

That includes $465,000 paid to the family of 28-year-old Hassan Pratt, who was fatally shot by Mann during a 2012 traffic stop. Mann was fired for killing Pratt in 2015, but was rehired after an arbitrator ruled in his favor.

Mann declined to be interviewed by the newspaper. A message seeking comment from the Fraternal Order of Police wasn't immediately returned Thursday.
